I will say there are many sites like searchengineland , searchenginejournal but the most important ones which i personally follow are the seomoz and seobook! For Google patent studies the SEObyTHeSea blog is awesome!! Thanks

the secret is KEYWORD in places
1 - KEYWORD in domain
2 - KEYWORD in title of page
2- KEYWORD in text of backlinks
3 - KEYWORD in title of urls that links to your website
