I think you are referring to websites using wordpress blogs.. yes you can optimize them..

The Two Main SEO Factors

When conducting SEO on your sites there are two main methods to classify:

On-Page SEO Off-Page SEO

On-Page can be described as anything you do to your own site in order to try and improve your SE rankings.

Off-Page is anything you do external of your own site (e.g. building links, submitting articles, press releases, viral tools) to improve your rankings.

Truth be told 80% of all your SEO results will come through Off-Page SEO, so likewise, 80% of your time should be spent doing Off-Page SEO. When you start optimizing your site you are not actually optimizing a site in its entirety. You are working on an individual page.

This is that Google ranks pages not sites. So every page you add into your site should be individually targeted to its own set of keywords and its own topic.

This means you can have many pages ranking well for highly targeted keywords. Obviously the work you do to the main page of your domain does have what I call a “carry over” effect, meaning you can pass authority through to your internal pages by linking correctly to them.
