Just about any niche is able to monetized quite well so the best thing a newb could do is start off with a site that they like, if your favorite hobby is underwater basket weaving make an UBW site and monetize it with ebay affiliates for crafts. So my tip is everything can be monetized so spend time on content you enjoy.
