There are many people on other forums that do stumble exchanges and things. I prefer to get my traffic from these types of sites naturally. Afterall, it doesn't convert much, so why bother with it when you can spend your time better elsewhere trying to get some better quality traffic. This type of traffic is much harder to convert than alot of other types of traffic, but still can be done. Even if it doesn't quite convert at first, you never know how many people from these networks are linking back to your site, bookmarking your site, etc.
That, to me , is the idea. They might not read much of your site at first, but the hope is to have them bookmark you and come back later. Then it is up to you to wow them with quality, original content. It never ceases to amaze me when people wonder why their site doesn't convert when they have a hodge podge f non-original articles that every other site in their niche is using.
