ncmedia is on a distinguished road
Will also try to throw in a few things, might be old, might be useful:

1. Write articles/blogs with your keyworded links throughout, post a blog on blogger.com and pingomatic.com it. Rewrite 40-60% of the article(s) and submit to other article sites, again keyword/linking.

2. Add a social bookmarking tool on your blog(s). Become a member of the bigger ones, and bookmark yourself, get at least a few friends to follow suit.

3. Become a member of relevant boards/forums, create nice signatures and stay active within the forums.

4. Buy traffic, either PPC, independant, banner spots, textlinks etc. (though for a blog thats untraditional.

5. Constantly look for relevant sites with high PR to link with, pay if you have to.

6. Offer amazing tips/freebies etc. on your blog, advertise the freebies/incentives instead of just the blog subject et al.

7. Look at your direct competitors in your niche/keys/etc. and analyze the %*#( out of their pages, duplicate efforts with your own twist re meta/text on page/titles/alt-image text/anchors/comment tags etc. SEO should be natural from your subject however this may still improve ranking/visibility.

8. If the whole purpose of the blog is to monetize on it with adsense, it will be a long hard journey to see real profit from non-finance supported efforts. If you are monetizing with affiliate programs you can review your products on your blogs, link to the merchant from your blog, and advertise the product(s) you promote. Reviews are great.

9. Landing pages/mini-sites: Start another small 3-4 page automated site with rss/automatic content updates etc. so it's automated, promote your blog on it. Or just single pages under different domains that are SEO heavy and highlight best parts of your blog with a 'read the full story' or 'for part 2 click here' button at the bottom of your landing page.

10. Sell your own product that you made (ebook/audio/something digital), get a ClickBank or other aff account, promote to affiliates, they will get your traffic and you will analyze their results, follow and document successfull affiliates-you'll have a blueprint to your best ways to get profitable traffic.

11. If you are your own domain name you should never EVER underestimate the power of offline marketing, this is broad but single piece print distribution, radio, newspapers, hot models handing out business cards, whatever - it's not 'get my blog popular' - its 'I'm starting a massive ad campaign on all available channels/resources towards a website/page/blog.

Keep getting inspired/educated by the success all around you, especially if you find someone within your own niche.

Cheers hope this helps,
NC.
