Well, like someone suggested above, you could try writing to them and also try calling them up and explaining. They do get the ban removed at times.
If you are working on SEO and expect a sudden surge of activity in your website, it would always help to let them know in advance that there are bound to be more visitors to your website. In such cases, you know you are safe and Google doesn't ban you even if your traffic increases overnight.
