Web Designing for Successful Marketing

Your website is the market's first look at what kind of company you are establishing, especially since it is within the confines of your home. Customers trust what they see. If what they see is pleasing to them, then they will trust you.

Imagine a whole row of dress shops lined side-by-side on the same street. Which one would grab the passerby's attention?

Neat and fascinating is what sells. Just as prospective customers are not expected to linger in shops where the ambiance is bland and the salesladies are rude, so don't expect internet browsers to click around amateur-looking websites and complicated links that either take too long to load or load on all the wrong pages.

Keep in mind though, that boring is not exactly the opposite of showing off. Too many bright colors are a turnoff to viewers and an over-creative navigation bar is a plain waste of time if not positioned in a prominent place. Remember that the customers are very busy people, which are why they prefer doing their business online. Hence, go for designs that would make your website easy to understand yet also inviting.

Inviting designs need to be related to the products you are selling or to the services you are offering but presented in a different way. An online astrology service, for instance, will likely opt for a moon and star design. Putting white text against star-studded black background with the navigation bar followed by a number of ads would make it look tedious and unprofessional. Why? Well, for one, it is difficult for many to read white text splattered against cluttered wallpaper. Second, lining the ads directly under the navigation bar would make your website look like a free Google site.

A better option would be to put dark-colored font against flawless white or cream-colored background and score neatness points. Stick to colors that relax the eyes and that look good together. To add the captivating factor, don't go for a moon that looks like it's been cut from a magazine. You can Photoshop it to make it look hand-drawn and limit your theme to the title bar. Put photos and images that promote your products or services but make sure they are shrunk to a reasonable size, as this would make your pages look organized and would help them load faster.

In an age where home businesses are selling like hotcakes, stand out by making your website unique and user friendly. Designs should attract attention rather than cause distractions. Think like your customers and try to please everybody. As a general rule, if you like it, chances are they would too.
