Using Social Media to Drive Web Traffic

Social media is an extremely effective way to drive traffic to your site. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace are at least terms that you have heard even if you are not completely familiar with them. It may even be true that in terms of marketing, you have very little idea where to begin with these websites. Just understand that social media marketing is simply a way to attract prospective customers and build relationships with them through engagement. Furthermore, through this engagement you will find an excellent resource for building a brand and increasing click through rates to your website.

Whenever you post a message or create an update to sites like Facebook, MySpace or Twitter you are essentially blasting your message to every friend or follower in your user list. If all of your messages contain blatant advertisements, it is likely that your relationship with these people will be short-lived. Proper marketing techniques on social media websites involve subtlety. This is where skill is most needed.

Here are some tips -

1) Change your marketing messages from time to time and make sure they are interesting. The most important factor with this is to be honest with your friends and your marketing message. Furthermore, it is extremely acceptable to tell a little bit about yourself. Discuss your family, your whole life, and things that you did in your past. Apply this information in an effective manner within your marketing message and you will begin to successfully build relationships with your prospective customers.

2) Consistency is important. Getting into a routine with social media marketing and stick to it. As with anything in business, it is unlikely that you will reap rewards in the beginning of your campaign but rather find these rewards through a consistent campaign routine.

3) Craft your marketing message carefully; never blatantly advertise. Think carefully about how you write your updates and posts and always vary your messages in ways that will help you stay on top of your target market.

4) Always offer valuable and compelling messages that can be continuously tweaked until you discover which message will achieve the highest level of response from your potential customers. In time you will begin to attract new users and garner the power of continuous attention within your social media marketing campaigns.

5) In order to make stronger sales and gain more traffic, your social media campaign must be custom to your product and service. Furthermore, monitor your competitors to analyze their strategies in case they are using methods that you may have missed.
