Are you planning to have your own website? How much is your budget? Well, if you do, then this article is for you.

Before you even plunge into the idea of hiring someone or creating your own website, you must answer the following questions:

Who is my target market?

This simply means who is your market, the type of people that you intend to serve or sell your products to.

When you are clear on this one, you need to remember two things:

People who are in the mid 40s or those who always run out of time doing a lot of stuff like executives, stay at home moms, students, etc - stick with a simple, user friendly design. Be sure the colors are not too bright or not too dull just enough that will not strain the eyesight of your visitors.

For those youngsters, the hip and fun group - they are more attuned to graphical designs. Full of colors, movement (like slideshows), and integrating some cool features in the website.

Is the website designed for SEO purposes?

The usual answer to this question from a lot of web owners is that it would be of course yes. But if you just want to have a website for display purposes and does not need to be fully promoted, it's still okay.

As to SEO-friendly website, there should be less flash and it is recommended to use PHP. It would be much easier to add up tags and search engine spiders will crawl into your website with no hassle at all. However, it may take some time since there are certain factors to consider. It's a big NO to have a website that is heavy on graphics and with animation. The loading time of a website will be much longer compared to a simpler one.

Now, you have answered the above-mentioned questions, you can plan as to what web design you are opting for your website.
