Affiliate marketing management solutions

In the past, most of the affiliate marketing done, was very small and could be easily managed directly by the company that was promoting its products. Today, more and more people are using affiliate marking to make their businesses grow without the huge capital outlay for advertising in useless places. This is why those companies now need affiliate marketing management solutions.

Affiliate marketing has had a bad reputation in the past because of poorly managed programs that churned out spam, had trademark infringements, and other problems like false advertising. With the introduction of affiliate management companies and managers, the intense pressure of overgrowing affiliates can be lessened, allowing the actual business to be run. This is basically the same as an advertising agency being hired to manage a company's marketing strategy.

The manager or management team will liaise with the affiliates, change strategies when needed, update information, make sure that any software is working properly and updated, and anything else relating to the affiliates. There are different types of management solutions. Some of them are remotely hosted services, stand alone software, shopping carts with features for affiliates, and affiliate networks which are third party.

Some of these management solutions are in the form of software that automatically deals with affiliates and is set up separately from your business. To run a successful affiliate management service they should perform various functions and have features like link generation, cookie settings, commission calculators, text or banner link display, affiliate reports, administration reports, Multi-tier calculations, payment processing mailing functions and anti-fraud functions.

The third party networks will take over all of the dealings for you and leave you to attend to your business, as explained above, but this can be a very expensive option as there will be monthly fees and commission charges. You can also opt for the remotely hosted management service which allows you full access to the software and how you wish to use it but it will be hosted on the software companies' servers. This can also be quite expensive as you will pay monthly fees, a setup fee, and if you happen to fall prey to one of the dodgy companies, they could take all of your affiliates.

The best way to manage your affiliate program is to learn how to do it yourself, or to hire an independent affiliate manager who can do it for you. The software will require a once off payment and you can then use it however you like, alter the codes and run your business quite easily, knowing that it is well managed.

So, make sure that you think carefully before you choose an affiliate management solution for your online business. You will have certain costs to consider as well as the convenience factor. Whichever solution you choose, you can be sure that it will help you to have more control over your marketing campaign and make money for your company, as well as for the affiliates who join. Remember that the better your management solution is, the more affiliates you will attract.
