A Guide for Aspiring Hosting Resellers

So you want to be a hosting reseller huh?

Well, no one can blame you as the reselling industry really can prove to be a worthy venture for investors as it presents them the capability to start their own business of selling web space without the usual burden of having to deal with the maintenance and expenses of having equipment that comes when one is a 'direct' seller of hosting services.

Reselling web hosting services has become a lucrative business as seen by the large number of entrepreneurs and companies just like you who are enticed to join the profitable bandwagon of reselling web hosting services.

However, having determination alone in becoming a hosting reseller does not grant you success in the world of the reselling business. You have to know how to step into the world with the right foot so that you can get off your career of being a hosting reseller with a fine start.

You start off by deciding what it is that you want to offer. You can choose to offer cheap hosting solutions for your clients. Selling cheap is a strategy where you negate the low price you are offering by selling in large quantities.

You can also pattern your marketing strategy from that of other hosting resellers that offer web hosting packages that are bundled with other services such as web design. By bundling your services, you will earn more from each transaction and you will net new clients at the same time in the case that they become impressed with the other services that you bundled with your reselling services.

After determining the services that you want to offer, you will then need to decide on the way by which you will offer your services.

There are generally two ways by which hosting resellers offer their services: one is by collaborating with an actual web host whose services you will then offer to clients. Once a client signs up for a service that you offer, that client will then be a customer of the web host you have collaborated with, and by referring a client to them you will earn a commission based on what services that the client purchased.

The other way of offering your services is by setting up a private label. Unlike collaboration with another web host where your clients are aware that you are not the actual service provider, setting up a private label involves the services of another provider but this time your clients are not aware that you are only reselling the services that you are providing them.

After these decisions, the next thing a hosting reseller must ponder upon is the design and advertising of the reselling business' website.

First impressions last and that is why you must do whatever it takes just to make sure that you will end up with an impressive website. However, though an impressive website really does help, you must also initiate an effective advertising campaign for your business to ensure consumer awareness for your services.
Adhering to these guidelines aids in ensuring that a hosting reseller newbie like you will have some ideas in the ins and outs of the reselling business. Effective as they may be however, they alone will not ensure your growth in the industry. As in any endeavor, you must have effort and dedication along with these tips to achieve success as a hosting reseller.
